The 9 Swords Handled By Roronoa Zoro

THE 9 SWORDS HANDLED BY RORONOA ZORO

Roronoa Zoro is the fighter of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the strongest people in the crew, right behind Monkey D. Luffy. Zoro wants to become the strongest swordsman in the One Piece world and to achieve this, he has set his sights on defeating the man who currently holds that title, Dracule Mihawk.

.

As a master swordsman, Roronoa Zoro has already wielded a large number of different blades in One Piece, some of which have only been with him for a few moments, while others have been in Zoro’s possession for years. Here are the 9 blades that Roronoa Zoro has wielded in One Piece.

NORMAL DOUBLE KATANA

Roronoa Zoro has always been a user of the famous Santoryu, also known as the three-sword style. Having received the Wado Ichimonji from Koshiro, Zoro still needed two more swords to complete the patterns and for this, Zoro first used two ordinary katanas.

During his fight with Dracule Mihawk, these two katanas ended up breaking. Since the Wado Ichimonji was an O Wazamono grade sword, it was able to withstand the heavy blow that Mihawk dealt to Roronoa Zoro.

THE SWORDS OF JOHNNY AND YOSAKU

After losing his swords to Mihawk, Zoro had to find a quick replacement so he could perform the famous three-sword style techniques. While the team was fighting in Arlong Park, Zoro temporarily borrowed Johnny and Yosaku’s swords.

He is seen fighting with these swords against Hachi. Although Zoro struggled for a short time against the octopus Fishman, it was because the wound that Mihawk inflicted on him was still fresh. Because of Zoro’s carelessness, the wound ended up opening up.

WADO ICHIMONJI

The 9 Swords Handled By Roronoa Zoro

The Wado Ichimonji is an O Wazamono grade sword that Zoro received from Koshiro. Originally, this sword was to be passed down to Kuina, a girl from Zoro’s dojo whom he lost in 2001. Due to Kuina’s untimely death, Zoro took possession of the Wado Ichimonji instead, and thus vowed to become the greatest swordsman in the world.

To this day, Roronoa Zoro still carries this sword, and it is likely that he will carry it until the day he manages to defeat Dracule Mihawk. During the time jump, Zoro’s control over his powers has developed beautifully, and it will get even better after the events in the Land of Wano.

YUBASHIRI

The 9 Swords Handled By Roronoa Zoro

One of Roronoa Zoro’s first swords, the Yubashiri was given to him by Ipponmatsu, impressed by his courage during the Logue Town arc of One Piece. One of Ryo Wazamono’s rank swords, Yubashiri was an extremely powerful sword, although it is not among the finest in the series. When it comes to wielding it, Yubashiri seems to be a rather obedient sword, unlike some of the other swords that Zoro wielded.

Unfortunately, Yubashiri was eventually destroyed by Shu, one of the navy captains, during the Buster Call at Enies Lobby. Zoro paid tribute to the sword after the events of the Thriller Bark arc and replaced it with another sword later on.

SANDAI KITETSU

Sandai Kitetsu is another of Zoro’s powerful blades that he picked up in Logue Town. However, unlike Yubashiri, Sandai Kitetsu is a lesser quality sword, belonging to the Wazamono. Compared to Yubashiri, this sword is particularly difficult to master, according to Roronoa Zoro. This is probably because Sandai Kitetsu is a cursed blade, from the family of cursed Kitetsu swords.

However, like any other blade, it doesn’t take long for him to assert his authority over it. Until now, Zoro has wielded this sword and used its bloodthirsty abilities to slice through those who stand in his way.

SHUSUI

The 9 Swords Handled By Roronoa Zoro

Shusui, one of the most powerful swords in the entire One Piece series, was once carried by the famous samurai Shimotsuki Ryuma. After his death, the sword, along with Ryuma’s corpse, was stolen by Moria, who then used it to strengthen his army. After confronting Roronoa Zoro, Ryuma was impressed by his bravery and ended up giving him the sword.

The Shusui is one of the 21 O Wazamono grade swords, which makes it extremely rare. Moreover, it is classified as a Kokuto (black blade), which makes it more powerful than an ordinary sword!

SEPPUKU SWORD

Roronoa Zoro found himself in trouble moments after the start of the Wano Country arc, where he was accused of murder. He was asked to commit suicide by committing Seppuku and was given a short blade without tanto. As expected, instead of killing himself, Zoro used this blade to slaughter everyone in his path, as well as the magistrate, who was the real culprit.

Zoro’s control over this Seppuku blade was magnificent, though it was very short and difficult to wield. He could even use Haki on this blade, further enhancing his powers.

THE SCYTHE OF KAMAZO

Once again, Zoro ran out of a sword during the arc of the Land of Wano when Gyukimaru stole Shusui from him. While trying to get his sword back, Zoro was intercepted by a man known as Kamazo the Man-Slayer, who later turned out to be none other than the Kid Pirates’ killer.

To finish him off, Zoro takes possession of one of his scythes and uses it to perform a purgatory onigiri, slicing Kamazo. However, Zoro lost too much blood during the fight and ended up fainting.

ENMA

Enma was one of the swords of the legendary samurai Kozuki Oden from the country of Wano. Together with Ame no Habakiri, Oden used this sword to practice his special style “Oden Nitoryu”. After his death, his blades were passed on to his children. While Kozuki Momonosuke received Ame no Habakiri, Kozuki Hiyori received Enma, which she then passed on to Roronoa Zoro, who had just brought Shusui back to the Wano country.

Enma is an extremely powerful sword, considered as a blade that only few are able to handle. This sword has the habit of drawing all the Haki of its user’s body. As a result, the blows sent by this sword are much more powerful than expected, unless controlled properly. Zoro has been training to get perfect control of Enma and seems to have succeeded.
