As the “principal protagonist” of the series,Monkey D Luffy has had his share of crazy moments. Here’s thetop 10!”
In the One Piece universe, those with the secret name of D are believed to be the natural enemies of the Celestial Dragon . So it’s not surprising that those with the name of D are among the most evil characters in the entire series.
One such character is Monkey D Luffy (straw hat), the captain of the infamous straw hat pirates and a member of the Worst Generation. Luffy is a exemplary captain who leads from the front with his heart on his sleeve. His dream is to become the King of the Pirates and, to achieve this, he will have to challenge the world itself. Along his journey, he has experienced some incredible moments. Here are a few of them:
10. WHEN LUFFY ARRIVED AT SABAODY AFTER THE 2 YEARS OF ELLIPSE

The Straw Hats were originally supposed to go directly to the new world via the Island of the Fishmen, but things did not go as planned. Because of their weakness, it was thought that the crew had been wiped out by the “tyrant” Bartolomeu Kuma. Of course, this was not true, but they had the opportunity to train for two years to prepare for the new world. Back at Sabaody, Luffy is much stronger than before, as clearly shown by the fact that he was able to take out the PX-5 in one shot, after easily escaping a laser blast. This is particularly impressive, given that two years earlier it took the combined strength of Luffy, Zoro and Sanji to take one down.
9. WHEN LUFFY USED THE GEAR 4 SNAKE MAN AGAINST KATAKURI

During Luffy’s two years of training on the Rusukaina with Silvers Rayleigh, he focused on improving all forms of his haki. After intensive training, he improved his observation, but the truth is that the haki flourishes best in intense, life-threatening combat. This is what leads Luffy to unlock a new form in his equipment transformation. Taking tips and cues from Katakuri during their fight, Luffy begins to see further and further into the future, thanks to his observation haki. At his strongest, he switches to snake-man, a version never seen before. This speed is focused on observation and can be seen as speed. Thanks to his new vision of the future and his speed, Luffy manages to take down Katakuri (a man with a bounty of over a billion).
8. WHEN LUFFY TURNED INTO GEAR FOURTH BOUND MAN AGAINST DOFLAMINGO

At first, it looked like some kind of joke. After all, that’s what Donquichote Doflamingo himself thought after seeing Luffy inflate himself into a bouncy figure. But Luffy was quite serious and confident in this transformation thanks to a rigorous training with him against Rusukaina’s animals. As soon as Luffy began his attack on Doflamingo, it became clear that, even though this contraption looked a bit comical, it was definitely not to be touched. This new device allowed Luffy to achieve devastating power and speed on a level never before seen. What followed was one of the most epic one-piece battles ever, culminating in the victory of Luffy’s now infamous recruit
7. WHEN MONKEY D LUFFY SAID HE WILL BECOME THE KING OF THE PIRATES IN FRONT OF WHITE BEARD AT MARINE FORD

It is common knowledge that, of all the pirates who roam the seas, the Yonko are the most powerful. Among them, Barbe White enjoys particular prestige as a rival to the former pirate king Gol D Roger.
From his very first encounter with such a legend of piracy, Luffy immediately announces that he, not Barbe White, will become the king of pirates. This comes as a shock to anyone looking at Marine Ford. After all, it’s not every day that a rookie pirate challenges an established Yonko.
6. WHEN LUFFY DEFIED THE WORLD GOVERNMENT

Robin, one of the straw hat pirates, has been captured by CP9 and is scheduled to be executed at Enies Lobby. At that point, the world could be forgiven for thinking that was the end of their story. But Luffy and the rest of the straw hats were never going to let it be that way, no matter who the enemy was. In this case, the enemy was the world government, so the enemy was literally the world itself. After asking Robin to confess her true feelings, Luffy asked Sogeking (Usopp) to take down the world government flag.
5. WHEN LUFFY MANAGED TO ESCAPE FROM IPEL DOWN

Impel Down was considered an impregnable prison that marines believed could never fall or falter. In the past, it was virtually impossible for a pirate to escape. After learning that his brother, Portgas D Ace, was locked up in this prison and about to be executed, Luffy hatched a plan to go rescue him. With help, Luffy managed to break into Impel Down and go on an absolute rampage. His escape led to the release of some of the most dangerous pirates the world has ever known. If that wasn’t enough, Luffy managed to escape from this prison before showing up in Marineford to cause even more destruction and chaos.
4. WHEN LUFFY TOLD BIG MOM THAT THE ISLAND OF THE FISH MEN IS HIS TERRITORY

After learning that Big Mom has taken control of Men’s Island Fish after the death of Barbe White, Luffy decides that it is too dangerous to leave the territory in her hands. He openly announces to the Yonko that he will defeat her and make the island his territory.
Once again, this is ridiculous behavior because, as we’ll see later, it’s far more common for a newbie to work under a Yonko than to go against him. Luffy takes it a step further when he reaches Whole Cake Island and mocks Big Mom’s failure to become the king of the pirates. He did this while being held captive by one of his crew members.
3. THE ROLE OF LUFFY DURING THE MARINE FORD WAR

The Battle of Marineford is sometimes referred to as the war of the best because it featured some of the world’s greatest pirates and sailors. Most of the recently named supernovas stood outside Marineford and watched the battle unfold. But one supernova, Monkey D Luffy, took part in this war and didn’t just do the counting. Luffy was the catalyst that gave the Whitebeard pirates the opportunity to save Ace. Of course, Ace died in an eventful way, but on that day, Monkey D Luffy announced himself as one of the watchers.
2. WHEN LUFFY USED THE HAKI OF KINGS (OR ROYAL FLUID) AT MARINE FORD

During the war, Whitebeard suffered heavy damage. This, coupled with his already failing health, made it increasingly difficult to rescue Ace, given the distance and troops between them. Sengoku realized this and called for Ace’s execution at that point. It is widely believed that haki flourishes in the deadliest of situations, and nowhere was this truer than in this moment. As Ace is about to be executed, Luffy must do everything in his mind to scream “stop”. This unlocked his latent ability, known as the haki of kings. This stunned many marines, saved Ace and shocked almost everyone in Marineford.
1. WHEN LUFFY HIT A HEAVENLY DRAGON ( TENRYŪBITO )

The celestial dragons are the absolute top of the food chain in One Piece and their authority is considered absolutely unquestionable. After seeing Saint Charlos shoot Hachi and dance around him as he lay bleeding on the ground, many people were disgusted but knew that they had no power to do anything about it. Any action against him would have invited and admiral to come and get the culprit (basically a death sentence, considering the strength of Sabaody pirates at the time). Despite this, Luffy didn’t hesitate for a second before taking one of the most iconic hits in modern anime history.
